Australian framework

Licensing and regulation

Corvenhall Trust presents technology and market information for Australian users. The authorisation applying to execution, custody or advice depends on the legal entity providing that specific service.

Ask for the provider disclosures and regulatory details relevant to the service you are considering.

Australian regulatory position

A financial-services website, a software platform and the entity executing transactions can have different legal roles. Check each role rather than relying on a logo or broad statement.

Jurisdiction Regulator or body Registration / regulatory basis
Australia ASIC; AML/CTF oversight by AUSTRAC; external dispute resolution via AFCA where applicable Complies with applicable Australian requirements for client onboarding, identity verification, financial promotion, privacy and complaint handling. Any licence or registration applying to the executing service provider must be confirmed in the relevant disclosure documents before funding an account.

No Australian Financial Services Licence number or AUSTRAC enrolment number was provided for this build. The site therefore does not claim one. Confirm the named executing provider and its records directly before transferring money.

What the principal bodies do

Their roles differ. Mentioning a body does not mean that every product is authorised, supervised or protected in the same way.

ASIC

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission administers financial-services and markets laws. Licensing requirements depend on the activity, product and entity involved.

AUSTRAC

AUSTRAC oversees Australia's AML/CTF framework. Registration or enrolment for a particular service is not equivalent to an investment endorsement.

AFCA

The Australian Financial Complaints Authority provides external dispute resolution for consumers dealing with participating financial firms. Eligibility depends on the firm and complaint.

Transparency before account funding

You should receive the provider's legal name, service description, applicable licence or registration information, fees, custody arrangements and complaint pathway. Compare those details with public records independently and retain the documents you relied upon.

A regulatory framework can improve accountability and disclosure, but it does not remove price volatility, technology failure, counterparty default or the possibility of losing capital. A registered provider can still offer a high-risk product.

Financial promotions and general information

Material on this site is general and does not take account of your objectives, financial situation or needs. Automated signals and illustrative calculations are not personal financial advice. Obtain independent advice where appropriate.

Questions to ask

  • Which legal entity will hold my account and execute transactions?
  • What Australian authorisation or registration applies to that activity?
  • Where are client money and assets held, and under whose terms?
  • Which fees, spreads and conversion costs can apply?
  • How do I complain, and is the provider an AFCA member?
